  • New bathroom sink CHEMICAL SMELL

I just had a new bathroom vanity (cultered marble)  with integrated sink installed.

I believe the plumber also put a new ABS drain (P trap...not sure if I have the right name) pipe.

When I run the water a chemical plastic smell comes up both in the drain and the drain overflow.  Could this be the new ABS pipe?  Will this smell go away at some time?

    Thanks

I am guessing this is just the left over odor of the PVC primer and adhesive used to install the trap and will dissipate over time.  If it doesn't, call your plumber back to investigate.

Look at your water lines, is it pex pipe.?

Did this smell ever go away? I'm currently having the same problem.  I have to close the drain when I I use the sink as the smell makes me nauseous.

    Thanks!
